Begin with an Evaluation
At Little Monkeys, we believe that parents are their child’s best advocates. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t let anyone dismiss your concerns. You know your child better than anyone, and we are here to help you find the answers you are looking for!
Evaluations allow us to pull apart the different layers of difficulties your child is experiencing and identify the root cause of the problem. Whether they are struggling with feeding or language, we will look at their development as a whole to develop a plan for therapy.
All evaluations start with a conversation to find out more about your child’s strengths and needs. We will ask about medical and developmental history and complete observations, hands-on assessments, and standardized testing to measure skills. Then, we will work together to make a treatment plan that is unique to your child and your family.
Our Approach to Therapy
We understand that every family is different, every child is different, and everyone's goals are different. By working closely with each family, our therapy sessions are always focused on reaching the goals that matter most to them.
Sharing meals and talking are two of the most important ways that we connect each day, and these moments should bring families closer together. Whether your child needs support with feeding or language development, we are passionate about helping your family experience happy connections— without the stress!
At Little Monkeys, we will walk with your family every step of the way. You will not only receive support during your sessions; we will also provide ongoing support via text, phone, telehealth, and in-person sessions as needed. You will walk away with everything you need to confidently guide your child’s development.
Lactation Support for Breastfeeding & Bottle Feeding
While your child is the focus of the therapy, parents are always closely involved! We will follow your baby's lead and use a variety of evidence-based methods to help you reach your feeding goals—whether that means making breastfeeding not painful, getting your baby to take a bottle, or improving weight gain. Our infant feeding sessions may focus on a range of topics, including:
Feeding positioning
Latching at the breast
Oral skills for breast or bottle-feeding
Feeding schedules
Bottle selection
Milk supply
Early milestones and development
You feed your baby 8-12 times every day! Let's make feeding a positive and bonding experience for you and your little one.
Toddler & Preschool Feeding Therapy
Feeding therapy will focus on reducing stress around food for your whole family and bringing joy back to mealtimes. Our sessions are always responsive and child-led— which means that we will guide your child through therapy to reach their goals, but your child will determine the pace! Our toddler and preschool feeding sessions may focus on helping your child:
Chew and swallow safely
Reduce picky eating
Tolerate or enjoy different foods, flavors, and textures
As a parent, you will be involved in the therapy process and learn how to make eating a positive experience for your child. We will support you with ideas to try at home and troubleshoot challenges together as they arise.
Pre- and Post-Therapy for Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTs)
Did you know that therapy is needed before and after getting a tongue and/or lip tie release? Our therapy sessions make it easier for your baby to recover from the procedure and meet their feeding goals right away. Through hands-on teaching, we will show you the stretches you will need after the tongue tie release, as well as exercises that you can do every day to see progress quickly! Completing oral motor therapy before and after a tongue tie revision leads to improved outcomes, such as:
A greater level of comfort with your hands in baby’s mouth
The ability to use tongue and mouth muscles correctly
More comfortable eating experiences
Parents are involved in every step of the therapy process! Continued work with your baby at home each day is what will help them reach their feeding goals as quickly as possible.
Late Talkers & Early Language Development
Children learn best through play, so our early language therapy sessions always look like fun and games! We follow your child’s lead and incorporate their therapy goals and strategies into any activity they engage with. Whether therapy takes place in your home, daycare, or preschool, our language therapy sessions will focus on helping your child:
Understand what they hear
Communicate their wants, needs, and ideas without frustration
Interact with other children and adults
Feel confident when speaking with others
Parent and teacher coaching is essential in early language therapy. We will provide you with activities that you can do at home, troubleshoot challenges together, and teach you techniques to help your child’s language skills progress more quickly!
