Little Monkeys is currently an out-of-network provider with all insurance plans. When a provider contracts with insurance, those insurance companies dictate the amount and type of therapy allowed. As a certified, licensed, and experienced speech therapist, my ethical obligation is to you, the client. I will always advocate and provide the type of service based on what is best for your child and his/her needs, not what insurance mandates. This allows me to dedicate more of my time to providing higher quality services and more time face-to-face with clients rather than spending my time negotiating with insurance companies. I am able to have longer, more in depth evaluations and therapy sessions that result in more progress. It allow me more time to focus on your child and communicate with you and allows me to hold your hand through this journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

We are not in network with any insurance companies at this time. You will pay us directly for all services provided. However, many people are able to submit a Superbill (provided upon request) to their insurance provider for reimbursement. You might be surprised what can be covered, even for out-of-network services like ours. We always encourage our clients to reach out to their insurance company to see what their out-of-network benefits are and how to go about submitting for reimbursement before our first session.

We accept cash, check, credit card, HSA/FSA credit or debit card, and Zelle.
-
After every session you will receive an invoice for services. Based on your preference, you can either pay at the time of service with a check, cash, or Zelle transfer, or we will charge the card you have on file after each session.

Because all of our sessions are home or daycare-based, travel fees are included in our prices as long as you are within 15 miles of Monroe. If you are more than 15 miles from Monroe, there is an additional travel fee.

We work with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Our youngest clients are a couple of days old and our oldest clients are around 4 or 5 years old.

Speech-language pathologists work with adults and children on a wide variety of skills that involve talking, listening, thinking, and eating. Some of those areas are speech sounds (articulation), fluency (stuttering), language and cognition after brain injury, language organization, reading, and swallowing. SLPs have a broad scope that they can work within, but I have done extensive additional training and mentorship to specialize in the areas we specialize in! These areas are ones that are taught a little bit about in graduate school, but because of the broad nature of the field, if your speech pathologist hasn't done extensive post-graduate training in infant feeding and early language, they are not experts in that area like we are!

Yes! To qualify for Birth to Three services, your child needs to be moderately delayed or more in two or more areas of development. There are children who would still benefit significantly from speech or feeding therapy who do not qualify for Early Intervention. One of the benefits of being an out-of-network provider is that if we (you and us) see a need for feeding or language therapy for your child, we can make a plan and work together.

Yes! Birth to Three services are an amazing resource that Connecticut offers to children who qualify. However, some parents may feel that they want more support for their children then is offered. Birth to Three works on a parent coaching model, to help teach you how to best support your child’s growth. While this can be a wonderful and effective approach, it has less direct therapy with your child. I can collaborate with your Birth to Three team to help provide additional support and direct speech, language, and feeding therapy to your child if you feel they would benefit from more. Because I am private pay, working with me won’t impact how your insurance covers your Birth to Three services.

Feeding is about connection and is a relationship between you and your child. We work on your child's relationship with food as well as your relationship with your child when food is involved. Feeding therapy looks different for different age groups. For infants, it is me working with you and your child to meet your breast and/or bottle-feeding goals. For older babies, it's teaching them the skills they need to manage eating solid foods and guiding parents to help them succeed. For toddlers and preschoolers, it is working with a picky eater and their family to help decrease the stress that the whole family feels around meals and food. We work with your child on oral motor skills and sensory difficulties, and we use play-based therapy, following their lead so that they feel confident and begin to enjoy the process of eating.
